Our Key Advantages

Drainage Services in Central Ohio

Water problems around a property usually do not start as a big emergency. They start as a spot in the yard that never dries out. A mulch bed that keeps washing away. A downspout that dumps water right where you do not want it. A low area that turns soft every time it rains.

After a while, it becomes clear the water needs a better path.

Flowline Excavating helps homeowners, property owners, communities and local businesses across Central Ohio with practical drainage solutions. That may mean underground downspouts, a french drain, a catch basin, a culvert, grading work or a combination of a few things. The right answer depends on how the property is built and how the water is moving.

A Careful Approach to Drainage Work

Drainage work is not just digging a trench and putting pipe in the ground. The important part is understanding what the water is doing before anything gets installed.

A yard can hold water because the ground is low. It can stay wet because roof water is being sent to the wrong place. Water can move toward the house because the grade is off. Driveways, sidewalks and patios can also change the way water travels across a property.

That is why Adam and the Flowline team start by looking at the property as a whole. Where is the water coming from? Where is it collecting? What is in the way? Where can it go without creating a new issue?

Those answers matter. A drainage fix should solve the problem, not just move it ten feet away.

OUR FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my yard stay wet after it rains?

A yard may stay wet because of low areas, poor grading, compacted soil, roof water from downspouts or water coming from another part of the property. The best fix depends on the source of the water and where it can safely drain.

What is the difference between a french drain and a catch basin?

A french drain collects water through the ground. A catch basin collects water from the surface. Both can be helpful, but they solve different drainage problems.

Can underground downspouts help protect my foundation?

They can help move roof water farther away from the house, which may reduce water collecting near the foundation. The discharge location still matters.

Can grading fix drainage issues?

Grading can help when water is moving the wrong direction or sitting in a low area. Some properties need grading only. Others need grading along with a drainage system.

Will drainage work damage my yard?

Drainage work usually requires some digging. Flowline works carefully around the property and does its best to leave the area in good order once the work is complete.

Yard Drainage Services

A damaged sewer line does not always mean the whole line has to be replaced. In some cases, the issue may be limited to a specific area that can be uncovered and repaired.
‍
Flowline Excavating can help expose the problem area, complete the needed excavation work and restore the area as carefully as possible once the repair is complete.
‍
Customers may call for sewer line repair when they notice:
Sewage backing up into the basement
Slow drains throughout the home
Sewer odors around the property
Wet or sunken areas in the yard
A known break in the sewer line
Recurring sewer problems
Tree root damage
A collapsed or damaged underground pipe
‍
Sewer issues can feel overwhelming, especially when the source of the problem is underground. Our goal is to make the process clear, manageable and handled with care.

When a French Drain Makes Sense

A french drain is useful when water is moving through the ground or sitting in an area that needs help drying out.The drain gives water a place to enter and a path to follow. But the drain only works as well as the planning behind it. The slope has to be right. The outlet has to make sense. The drain needs to be placed where it can actually collect the water causing the issue.

A french drain is not a catch-all fix for every wet yard. Used in the right spot, it can be a strong solution. Used in the wrong spot, it becomes an expensive line in the ground.

Flowline looks at the water first, then decides whether a french drain belongs in the plan.

Catch Basins for Surface Water

Some drainage problems are right on the surface. Water runs across the yard, driveway or patio and collects in one low area.

That is where a catch basin can help. It gives surface water a place to collect before moving into an underground drainage line. Placement is everything. A catch basin needs to sit where the water naturally wants to go.

Used correctly, it can help with pooling around hard surfaces, low spots in the yard and areas that take on a lot of runoff during heavy rain.

Flowline does not treat every wet yard the same. Some jobs need pipe. Some need grading. Some need a basin. Some need downspouts moved underground. Some need a simple correction in how the water leaves the property.

Adam’s approach is down-to-earth: look at what is happening, explain it clearly and make a plan that fits the property. Homeowners should not feel confused about why something is being recommended. They should understand the problem and feel confident that the work makes sense.

That is the kind of communication Flowline is built on.
